The Importance of Eating Organically
Organically produced foods have no harmful chemicals, growth hormones, pesticides or herbicides. Foods are nutrient-dense and better for our gut flora, liver and kidney function.
Nutrient-dense food means our body feels more satisfied and we don't feel the need to eat as much.
Eating organically can reduce the chance of cancers.
It is also better for our environment as harmful pesticides are not sprayed and absorbed by the soil which can then enter the air we breathe and our water system too. Pesticides are deadly for insects, including our precious bees which are essential for pollination.

The Advantages of Eating Seasonally
Inuit diet vs Jamaican diet
Each season provides an array of fresh foods.
Inuit people need to sustain their energy to keep their body warm during long and cold winters,
therefore proteins and fats are their main diet which their environment provides.
On the other hand, the diet of someone from Jamaica consists of lean proteins and fruits
due to their warm climate.
If Inuit people and Jamaicans swapped their diets neither would do well and
it may even lead to illness and disease.
Our diet needs to follow a similar seasonal pattern so that our body functions better.
Seasonal foods have higher nutritional value, avoid overseas contaminants, taste better as they aren't harvested before they ripened.
They are more environment-friendly as there is less transportation, less refrigeration, fewer hot houses and less irradiation of produce.

FOOD PREPARATION
It is best not to overcook vegetables to keep their enzymes. Enzymes are very important proteins that aid in digestion, metabolism and cellular processes.
It is ideal to cook in stainless steel or ceramic pans to avoid harmful chemical release into the foods.
Processed and ultra-processed foods
(Contain trans fats & sugars)
Health risks: Heart disease, high levels of LDL (cholesterol), hypertension, obesity, cancer, hormonal imbalance, etc.

Break the "addiction" of sugar
Harmful foods to avoid

Plastic

Sugar can induce bingeing, withdrawal anxiety and craving. It can be considered addictive because it triggers the release of dopamine in the brain. Dopamine creates feelings of pleasure and reinforces the desire to consume more.
We all know how difficult it is to stop eating sugar!
Sugar can adversely effect eye and nervous system health.
Sugar is an immune system suppressor, it can cause anxiety along with various forms of cancer.
It's ideal to avoid high glycaemic index foods, including simple carbs to keep blood sugar levels low, especially before bedtime. A spike in insulin in the night can cause a panic state for the brain, adrenaline surges as a result and it can tire the heart and negatively affect deep sleep. Simple carbs can elevate blood sugar levels by 300% faster than sugar alone! We experience such severe sugar crash that the body thinks it is starving to death and goes into survival mode.
This results in the storing fat releasing cortisol and the brain even forgets to breathe!
Plastic releases oestrogen-mimicking chemicals, especially when the bottle is heated by the sun or warming foods in the microwave in Tupperware.
Higher levels of oestrogen are linked to different types of cancers such breast cancer.
In females it can cause fatigue, decreased sex drive, depression or anxiety, irritability.
In men it can manifest in a depressed mood and erectile dysfunction.
Filtered water is ideal or water stored in glass bottles.
Plastic is harmful to our environment too.
If you read the words:
“Sugar Free with Sweeteners,
Low-Fat and Fat-Free"
Think of the words:
"Chemical Sh*t Storm"

Fat-free products may have added sugars, starches and salt to replace the flavouring of the missing fat. Harmful chemicals can also be used during the process.
Artificial sweeteners can cause various negative health effects including potential links to increased risks of heart disease, stroke, metabolic syndrome and headaches. They can disrupt normal appetite regulation, possibly leading to weight gain and cravings for sugary foods.
